ARGUMENTS ?

According to Wikipedia an argument is a series of statements (in a natural language), called the premises, intended to determine the degree of truth of another statement, the conclusion.Simply, argument is a statement or a set of statements, that we use in order to try to convince others that our opinion about something is correct.

Here showed how the word argument origin.









Standard form of an Argument


The standard form of an arguments is a method which shows what are the premises statements and what are the conclusion statements and also how many both of them.

Premises;

Premise is a statement in an argument which provide support or reason for the conclusion.

There can be one or more premises in a single argument.



Conclusions;

A conclusion is a statement in an argument that indicates of of what the arguer is trying to convince the reader or listener.




However the arguments are present like below ;

                            P(1) – Premise 1
                            P(2) – Premise 2
                            --------------------------
                            Therefore,
                            C(1) – Conclusion 

Simple Examples :

                            P(1) – All musicians can read music.
                            P(2) – John is a musician.
                             ------------------------------
                            Therefore,John can read music.


                            P(1) – All whales are mammals.
                            P(2) – Killer whale is a whale.
                             ------------------------------
                            Therefore,Killer whale is a mammal.


Conclusion and premise indicators are words that are used to make clear which statements are premises and which statements are conclusions in arguments.

Normally a valid argument which the conclusion is follows from its premise, and which the premise is true are called Sound Arguments.
Such that if the argument is meaningless it is called as unsound.

Generally arguments are use to change or persuade people’s thought about some points.And may be they are helpful to get closer to understand truth.

Reasoning

 Reasoning is that the ability to assume logically to formulate truthful judgements and justify a foothold. In different words, it's concerning distinguishing, analysing and evaluating arguments.

However to make a good and valuable arguments you should know the language well and you should have the ability to use the language well,otherwise you can't convince clearly about your argument.
Language is the medium that we can use to communicate feelings and emotions.When we talk about arguments,it is important to know language well to make a good argumentas it related to audience acceptance or rejection about an argument.

Language and Convension

Convention mean the way which something usually done.As there are many languages in earth we have to use a unique way to explain something to audience. Understanding language conventions enables students to describe how language works, to make meaning as they speak and listen, to read and to be able to use language to make meaning as they write.



Evaluative Language

Arguments are often filled with evaluations. Evaluation means the making about judgement about value of something.So evaluative language is positive or negative language that judges the worth of something.
