Philosophy Of Ethics Through Religion

As a university student who follows a philosophy course, I improved my knowledge about so many fields.However what I mostly interested through my studies was Ethics.In my opinion ethics can be the most important thing we learnt and it could connect with any other philosophical study.Ethics or moral philosophy is a branch of philosophy that "involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior" Through this article you can find that definition for the term Ethics.However the term ethics derived from a Greek word which gives the meaning custom, habit, character or disposition.

When you go more deep in the article you will get some idea about why ethics is so important .Such as it ca provide a moral map,it can pinpiont a disagreement.
Ethics cannot give one answer but it can give more.At last you will clarify that ethic is not about religion,sex or it not only about our society and its not good in theory.

According to Wikipedia ethics or moral philosophy is a branch of philosophy that "involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior "[1] We can say that concepts of ethics are came through religions, Philosophies and also from cultures. They infuse debates on topics like abortion, human rights and professional conduct.However the term Ethic is derived from the Greek word ethos which can mean custom, habit, character or disposition.So this is a system of moral principles which brings people to decide something is right or wrong.Most time people treat as both ethics and religion are same.However religion also define in a way like this.But religion is a organized system of beliefs and specially rules used to worship some god or gods or any other person. However most of the religions have some ethical component and ethics is a good tool for think about moral isuues.To be ethical theories usefull, they have to affect the way people behave and philosopers think ethics can do this.

Ethics as a Philosophical Study

When we see about the study of philosophy, what I got was the study of philosophy helps us to improve our ability to solve problems, communication skills and also our writing skills and practice for reading carefully.As a university student who followed the subject Philosophy for around 11 weeks, specially I practiced to work carefully and solve problems by arguing with problems.As I feel is ethics as a philosophical study was one of the most important part for lives.According to several sources, ethics can be divided in to several parts.

1. Metaethics - examines the nature of moral claims and arguments
2. Normative Ethics - examines moral standards that attempt to define right and wrong conduct.
3. Applied Ethics - examines specific moral issues.[2]

However this classification may differ from source to source.Simply what you can get is many philosophicals works cover with this.

Why Ethics Is ?

As I mentioned earlier ethics is simply about right and wrong or good or bad which affect people on any field. On a daily basis, we are guided by an ethical framework that helps us make decisions that have good consequences and steers us away from unjust results.In my point of view ethics brings a world to a better place, as people tend to make correct decisions.Ethics is not only important in personal life but also in business. Ethical values assist us in dealing more successfully with ethical issues by removing actions that do not accord to our sense of right and wrong, as well as our best logical interests, without sacrificing others.

                                            Religion And Ethics

Religion and morality are not synonymous. While religion may be dependent on morality and even grow alongside it, morality is not always dependent on religion, despite what some call a "almost inevitable assumption." As we are Sri Lankan and as a south Asian country we can find many religion thoughts such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hindusm, Islamic, etc. Here sometimes followers of these may define these in different ways.But I see about them is they all are some taught of someone. In Buddhism, ethics are typically founded on the Buddha's enlightened perspective.However some have claimed that religiosity and spirituality based on religion might encourage immoral behavior. Ethics, on the other hand, are universal decision-making skills that may be applied by people of all religious beliefs, even atheists. While religion makes claims about cosmology, social behavior, and the “proper” treatment of others, etc. Logic and reason, rather than tradition or edict, are the foundations of ethics.

Ethics Doesn't Give Right Answers But Can Give Several Answers

Many individuals believe that there is just one correct response to ethical problems. They have a hard time dealing with moral ambiguity because they truly want to do the 'right' thing, and even if they can't figure out what that right thing is, they enjoy the concept that there is one right answer'somewhere.'. However, there is frequently more than one correct response, there may be numerous correct answers or only a few least worst choices among them. Others struggle with moral ambiguity because it compels them to accept responsibility for their own decisions and acts rather than relying on easy norms and conventions.

To Sumup ;

To sum up the article under the study of philosophy what I most need to know about is ethics and its behaviours.So Ethics is simple the right and wrong or the good or bad.When we looking at these definitions its automatically our mind walking towards our own realigions.As reliongs also taught us about these things. According to Kant, religion is based upon ethics and the existence of God is due to the existence of ethics. Kant believes that bliss invariably accompanies virtue. In complete good, the highest happiness is included. Virtue is of course the ultimate good, but without bliss it is not complete good.[3]
